Part I. Plants growth and leaves size

Summary

The aim of the experiment carried out in 2004/05 and 2005/06 was an estimation of the influence of Actisil on seedlings quality of two garden pansy cultivars: ‘Peach Shades’ and ‘Silver Blue’ from Fancy groups. In the experiments three methods of treating were applied: 1) control – plants without Actisil, 2) plants sprayed with Actisil in 0.2% concentration, 3) plants sprayed with Actisil at 0.4% concentration. Actisil was applied four times, once a week. In the experiments the following traits were evaluated: height and diameter of plants and leaf blade length and width.

In the successive years of cultivation the effect of Actisil on plants was different. Only in the second year of cultivation an essential effect was found of Actisil on growth and quality of seedlings. Only in the first year of the research there were clear differences between cultivars.

Plants treated with Actisil were higher and larger and had wider leaves. Shoots were longer but did not lie down. They were rigid, sappy and dark-green just as leaves.
